The aim is to prepare our students with the appropriate skills and knowledge to solve complex geological problems in a rapid changing world. With the structure of our courses which includes quantitative reasoning, laboratory components, field trips, and problem-solving assignments, we train our students to observe, analyze, critically evaluate, conceptualize, and think independently to derive their own conclusions.

- Understand Earth materials and composition in all parts of the geosphere
- Understand field-based geological and geophysical investigations, emphasizing earth structure and dynamics
